Plant Description
The Desert Rose is a sun-drunk sculptural showoff with a swollen, bottle-shaped caudex that stores water like a camel and looks like a bonsai that skipped straight to its dramatic third act. When she finally blooms, she erupts in vivid pink, red, or white trumpet flowers that belong on a tropical postcard—not on your windowsill, and yet, here she is. Give her blazing sun, fast-draining soil, and the occasional deep drink followed by a long dry spell, and she'll deliver one of the most theatrical bloom shows in the houseplant world.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Full sun, minimum 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Sunniest window indoors; low light means no flowers and a very sad caudex.
💧 Water — Deep water then let soil dry almost completely before watering again. In winter reduce to once a month or less; never let it sit in water.
💨 Humidity — Low humidity preferred. Thrives in dry conditions; no misting or humidifier needed—she's practically offended by the suggestion.
🌡️ Temperature — Loves heat, 60–95°F. Bring indoors before first frost; cannot survive freezing temperatures.
🪴 Soil — Fast-draining cactus or succulent mix. Drainage is everything; soggy soil is a death sentence delivered slowly.
🌱 Fertilizer — High-phosphorus bloom booster every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer. Back off in fall; none in winter.
⚠️ Toxicity — Highly toxic to pets and humans. Cardiac glycosides in all plant parts; keep away from children and animals—this one means it.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Moderately. Low water needs make her forgiving, but she demands full sun and frost protection without exception.

We ship all live plants with custom packing, insulation, and lots of cushioning so they arrive in the best condition possible. Shipping rates are based on the packed weight of your order (plants + soil + pot + box + insulation). This helps us cover the real cost of getting breakable, living things safely to you.
In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
SHIPPING NOTE: Shipping includes wrapping and insulation. Heat packs are not included by default—please add a Heat Pack add-on to your cart for cold-weather shipping. Shipping Days are Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend and holiday delays.
