Aglaonema 'Silver Bay' is the Chinese Evergreen that made silver-green acceptable as a whole aesthetic—those broad, glossy leaves in soft silver-green with darker green margins create a two-toned composition so clean and well-executed it looks like someone consulted a color palette before growing it. She's one of the most reliably beautiful and most reliably easy Aglaonemas available, delivering that refined silvery display with the genus's legendary adaptability to low light, average humidity, and occasional care inconsistency. Elegant, dependable, and the kind of plant that makes every space look like someone thought about it—the Silver Bay is the Aglaonema that gets recommended for good reason.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Low to bright indirect light. That soft silver-green coloring stays most luminous with good light; lower light is genuinely tolerated without complaint—one of the best low-light variegated plants available at any experience level.
💧 Water — Let the top 1–2 inches dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Classic Aglaonema drought tolerance in full effect; consistent but not soggy is the entire requirement and she makes it very easy to meet.
💨 Humidity — Average to moderate, 40–60%. Comfortable in typical home humidity without any supplemental assistance—the Silver Bay is the rare silvery plant that genuinely doesn't need a humidifier.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–80°F. Never below 60°F. No cold drafts, no AC vents—she tolerates almost everything except cold air and she is not shy about expressing that particular preference.
🌱 Fertilizer — Balanced liquid fertilizer monthly in spring and summer. Nothing in fall and winter; consistent and gentle keeps that silver-green coloring at its most luminous and refined.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation and vomiting if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Absolutely yes. Elegant, low-light tolerant, humidity-independent, and forgiving—the Silver Bay is the plant that makes beginners feel competent and experienced growers keep coming back to because it simply always looks good.
