The Alocasia 'Silver Dragon' looks like something that belongs in a terrarium in a fantasy film—thick, rigid leaves in pale silver-green stretched taut over a surface so heavily embossed with dark impressed venation that each leaf genuinely resembles dragon scales caught mid-shimmer. She's the more accessible entry point into serious Alocasia collecting, sharing that same extraordinary textural quality as the Dragon Scale but rendered in soft silver that makes her feel somehow even more otherworldly. Demanding enough to keep you engaged, rewarding enough to make you want the whole dragon family.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Bright indirect preferred. The silver sheen needs good light to stay luminous; medium indirect is tolerated but dulls the metallic quality. No direct sun, no dark corners.
💧 Water — Top inch dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Chunky well-draining mix is non-negotiable—don't mist directly onto the textured surface, water pools in the scales and invites fungal problems.
💨 Humidity — 60–75% required. Humidifier strongly recommended. She's from the limestone hills of Borneo and she remembers it fondly.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. Cold drafts cause immediate stress and the silver surface will tell on you.
🪴 Soil — Chunky well-draining aroid mix. Roots need airflow; compacted soil is the fastest way to lose a dragon.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause serious oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Not quite. Humidity, good drainage, and stable warmth required—but she's a worthy and very achievable challenge for intermediate plant parents.

We ship all live plants with custom packing, insulation, and lots of cushioning so they arrive in the best condition possible. Shipping rates are based on the packed weight of your order (plants + soil + pot + box + insulation). This helps us cover the real cost of getting breakable, living things safely to you.
In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
SHIPPING NOTE: Shipping includes wrapping and insulation. Heat packs are not included by default—please add a Heat Pack add-on to your cart for cold-weather shipping. Shipping Days are Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend and holiday delays.
