Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret' looks like it was forged out of polished metal—those thick, glossy leaves shift from deep copper to burgundy-red to bronze depending on how the light hits that iridescent surface, the effect so metallic and surreal it stops people mid-sentence when they notice it across a room. She's the cuprea pushed further into the red spectrum, more saturated, more dramatic, more jewelry-box than the standard form, and she knows it. Give her humidity, good drainage, and the admiration she clearly deserves and she'll reward you with foliage that looks genuinely priceless.

🌿 Light — Bright indirect essential. That metallic red-copper iridescence requires good light to shift and shimmer properly; low light flattens the whole effect to dull olive-brown and the magic evaporates completely.
💧 Water — Top inch dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Thick leathery leaves offer some drought buffer but compact roots rot fast in soggy conditions—well-draining chunky mix, no exceptions.
💨 Humidity — 60–75% required. Humidifier strongly recommended; misting tolerated but avoid pooling water on that metallic surface—water marks on iridescent leaves are visible and annoying.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. Cold drafts dull the metallic iridescence faster than anything else and she is not interested in being dull.
🪴 Soil — Chunky well-draining aroid mix. Those thick roots need airflow and drainage; soggy soil is the fastest way to lose something this irreplaceable.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause serious oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Not quite. Humidity, drainage, and stable conditions required—but she's one of the most rewarding intermediate Alocasias in the hobby and worth every bit of the effort.

In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
