Plant Description
Alocasia 'Frydek Tattooed' takes the Green Velvet Frydek—already a collector staple for its deep velvety leaves and crisp white venation—and turns that venation up to a level that feels less like a plant feature and more like a deliberate artistic decision, the white patterning so bold and precisely mapped across the dark velvety surface it looks genuinely tattooed rather than grown. She has all the Frydek personality underneath that intensified exterior—humidity demands, velvet surface sensitivities, opinions about being moved—but the tattoo-level venation makes every leaf a composition worth examining up close. Velvety, graphic, and completely serious about both.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Bright indirect, consistently. That bold venation displays most dramatically against the dark velvety surface with good light; low light dulls the contrast and the tattooed quality loses the definition that makes it extraordinary.
💧 Water — Top inch dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Chunky well-draining aroid mix essential; never let water sit on the velvety leaves—moisture on velvet causes permanent marks and fungal issues that are both avoidable and deeply unfortunate.
💨 Humidity — 65–80% required. Humidifier non-negotiable; never mist directly onto the velvety surface—water marks on dark velvet are permanent and will undermine that entire tattooed aesthetic every time you look at the plant.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–82°F. Never below 62°F. Stable warmth keeps those boldly veined velvety leaves pushing consistently; cold drafts cause immediate stress that shows first in the velvet surface.
🪴 Soil — Chunky well-draining aroid mix. Velvety Alocasias punish soggy roots faster than most; good drainage is the foundation everything else is built on.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter; consistent and gentle over aggressive—the velvet surface doesn't need fertilizer burn on top of everything else it requires of you.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause serious oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — No. Velvet surface, high humidity demands, and that intensified venation that deserves proper care—this one is for experienced collectors who appreciate the details and are ready to protect them.

We ship all live plants with custom packing, insulation, and lots of cushioning so they arrive in the best condition possible. Shipping rates are based on the packed weight of your order (plants + soil + pot + box + insulation). This helps us cover the real cost of getting breakable, living things safely to you.
In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
SHIPPING NOTE: Shipping includes wrapping and insulation. Heat packs are not included by default—please add a Heat Pack add-on to your cart for cold-weather shipping. Shipping Days are Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend and holiday delays.
PLEASE NOTE: What you see is the vibe — not the exact plant. 🌿 Each plant has its own personality (some a little more dramatic than others). Leaf shape, size, and variegation will vary, but pot size is consistent.
