Plant Description
The Anthurium crystallinum is the plant that started a thousand velvet obsessions—those large, heart-shaped leaves in deep velvety green with crystalline white venation so precise and luminous it looks like someone traced every vein with a fine brush and then forgot to stop. It's not showy in a loud way; it's showy in the way that genuinely beautiful things are, quietly commanding every room it's in without having to announce itself. Once you own one, every other Anthurium starts looking like a rough draft.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Bright indirect, consistently. Crystalline venation and velvety surface need good light to display their full glory; low light dulls both and produces smaller, less impressive leaves.
💧 Water — Top inch dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Chunky well-draining aroid mix essential—velvety Anthuriums punish overwatering faster than almost anything else and they are not subtle about it.
💨 Humidity — 65–80% required. The velvet surface is the whole point and dry air destroys it; humidifier is non-negotiable. Never mist directly onto velvety leaves—water marks are permanent.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. Stable warmth keeps the velvety new leaves coming; cold drafts produce sad, stunted growth that insults the whole lineage.
🪴 Soil — Chunky well-draining aroid mix with good organic matter. Moisture retention and drainage in equal measure—don't compromise on either.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause serious oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — No. Velvet surface, high humidity demands, and sensitivity to overwatering make this one for growers who are ready to commit—but it is absolutely worth every bit of that commitment.

We ship all live plants with custom packing, insulation, and lots of cushioning so they arrive in the best condition possible. Shipping rates are based on the packed weight of your order (plants + soil + pot + box + insulation). This helps us cover the real cost of getting breakable, living things safely to you.
In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
SHIPPING NOTE: Shipping includes wrapping and insulation. Heat packs are not included by default—please add a Heat Pack add-on to your cart for cold-weather shipping. Shipping Days are Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend and holiday delays.
