Plant Description
The Anthurium luxurians lives up to its name in the most unapologetic way possible—those thick, deeply bullate, almost impossibly textured leaves look like someone pressed a grid of perfect bubbles into dark green leather and called it a plant. It's tactile, architectural, and quietly one of the most extraordinary things you can grow indoors, the kind of specimen that makes experienced collectors stop and stare like they're seeing it for the first time every single time. Slow-growing and deliberate, each new leaf feels like an event worth documenting.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Bright indirect preferred. That extraordinary bullate texture develops best with good light; low light produces flatter, less dramatic leaves that don't honor the name "luxurians" even slightly.
💧 Water — Top inch dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Thick leaves offer some drought buffer but soggy roots are still a fast track to an expensive mistake—chunky well-draining mix is essential.
💨 Humidity — 65–80% required. Luxurians is a Colombian rainforest native with predictably high standards; humidifier strongly recommended. Never mist directly onto that textured surface—moisture trapped in the bullate pockets invites fungal issues.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 62°F. Stable warmth keeps those extraordinary leaves coming on schedule; cold drafts slow growth to a standstill and insult the whole operation.
🪴 Soil — Chunky well-draining aroid mix with quality organic matter. Roots need airflow and consistent but not excessive moisture—this is not a plant that forgives a bad soil mix.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause serious oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — No. Slow-growing, humidity-demanding, and worth every bit of the care it requires—this one is for collectors who appreciate the slow burn of something genuinely exceptional.
HOW OUR SHIPPING WORKS
We ship all live plants with custom packing, insulation, and lots of cushioning so they arrive in the best condition possible. Shipping rates are based on the packed weight of your order (plants + soil + pot + box + insulation). This helps us cover the real cost of getting breakable, living things safely to you.
In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
SHIPPING NOTE: Shipping includes wrapping and insulation. Heat packs are not included by default—please add a Heat Pack add-on to your cart for cold-weather shipping. Shipping Days are Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend and holiday delays.
PLEASE NOTE: What you see is the vibe — not the exact plant. 🌿 Each plant has its own personality (some a little more dramatic than others). Leaf shape, size, and variegation will vary, but pot size is consistent.
