Those broad, dramatically patterned leaves are a swirling composition of silver, deep green, and burgundy-purple in a spiral pattern so bold and graphic it looks less like a plant and more like someone commissioned a textile designer to reimagine what foliage could be. 🌿 Light — Bright indirect, no direct sun. Those dramatic spiral markings stay vivid and sharp with good indirect light; direct sun scorches the patterned leaves and low light fades the whole composition into something considerably less impressive.
💧 Water — Let the top inch dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Rex Begonias rot faster than almost anything when overwatered—water at the base, never on the leaves, and make sure drainage is actually happening.
💨 Humidity — 50–65% preferred. Needs more humidity than average but less than a terrarium species; a pebble tray or nearby humidifier works well. Avoid misting directly onto the patterned leaves—water spots on Rex foliage are a permanent disappointment.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–80°F. Never below 60°F. No cold drafts, no AC vents—she's a tropical beauty with predictably tropical temperature expectations.
🪴 Soil — Light, well-draining mix. Rex Begonias hate sitting in moisture; airy soil with good drainage keeps the roots healthy and the leaves spectacular.
🌱 Fertilizer — Quarter to half-strength balanced liquid every 3–4 weeks in spring and summer. Light hand, consistent schedule—Rex Begonias are sensitive to fertilizer burn.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Getting there. More forgiving than many collector plants at this visual level—a great choice for intermediate growers ready for something genuinely stunning without the full collector tax.

In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
