Begonia 'Curly Fireflush' is the plant that looks like it's perpetually caught in a dramatic gust of wind—those ruffled, deeply crenulated leaves in rich green with vivid red undersides and a fine covering of iridescent hairs that catch the light like tiny sparks justify every syllable of that name. She's textural, fiery, and completely committed to being the most interesting thing on whatever surface she occupies. The kind of plant that rewards close inspection with details that just keep getting better.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Bright indirect, no direct sun. The iridescent hair covering and red undersides display best with good indirect light; direct sun scorches the delicate hairy surface and low light dims the whole fire situation considerably.
💧 Water — Let the top inch dry between waterings, then water thoroughly at the base—never on the leaves. Those fine hairs trap moisture and invite fungal issues faster than you'd like; good drainage is non-negotiable.
💨 Humidity — 55–70% preferred. Needs humidity but the hairy leaf surface means no misting ever—trapped moisture in those fine hairs causes rot and fungal spotting that is both ugly and irreversible.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–80°F. Never below 60°F. Stable warmth keeps those ruffled fiery leaves pushing consistently; cold or fluctuating temps stress her immediately.
🪴 Soil — Light, well-draining mix with good aeration. Those roots need consistent moisture without any waterlogging—airy soil is the right answer here.
🌱 Fertilizer — Quarter to half-strength balanced liquid every 3–4 weeks in spring and summer. Light and consistent; hairy-leaved Begonias are sensitive to fertilizer burn.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Not quite. The no-misting rule and humidity balance require some experience—but for intermediate growers who get the conditions right she is an absolute firecracker.

Shipping rates are based on the packed weight of your order (plants + soil + pot + box + insulation). This helps us cover the real cost of getting breakable, living things safely to you.
In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
SHIPPING NOTE: Shipping includes wrapping and insulation. Heat packs are not included by default—please add a Heat Pack add-on to your cart for cold-weather shipping. Shipping Days are Monday–Wednesday to avoid weekend and holiday delays.
