Epipremnum giganteum 'Variegated' is exactly what the name promises and then some—those enormous, broadly heart-shaped leaves in deep green splashed with irregular cream and white variegation get genuinely large as the plant matures, the kind of scale that stops being a houseplant and starts being a design feature you build a room around. She climbs aggressively and enthusiastically, each new variegated leaf larger than the last when given something to ascend, turning a bare wall or moss pole into something that looks like it belongs in an editorial spread. 🌿 Light — Bright indirect preferred. Those large variegated leaves need good light to sustain the white sections and push new growth at the scale this plant is capable of; low light causes reversion toward green and dramatically smaller leaves.
💧 Water — Let the top 1–2 inches dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Chunky well-draining aroid mix essential—large variegated Epipremnums are less forgiving of soggy roots than standard green Pothos and the scale of potential root rot is proportionally larger.
💨 Humidity — Moderate to high, 50–70% preferred. Large leaf surface area increases transpiration demand; a humidifier supports the best growth and keeps those big variegated leaves looking lush rather than crispy at the edges.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. No cold drafts—white variegated sections take cold damage faster than green tissue and on leaves this large the damage is immediately and dramatically visible.
🪴 Soil — Chunky well-draining aroid mix. Big plant, big roots, big need for drainage and airflow—don't compromise on the mix quality.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–3 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter; large fast-growing variegated plants are heavier feeders than compact cultivars but still sensitive to over-fertilizing.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to cats, dogs, and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation and vomiting if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Not quite. Scale, variegated tissue, and climbing habit require some experience and intentional setup—but intermediate growers with the space and a moss pole will find this one of the most rewarding large aroids in the hobby.
