Epipremnum pinnatum 'Yellow Flame' is the Pothos that turned up the brightness to a level most plants wouldn't dare attempt—those elongated, lance-shaped leaves are splashed in vivid golden-yellow and rich green in a flame-like variegation pattern that genuinely looks like light moving through foliage, warm and luminous and impossible to ignore. She's more elongated and architectural than standard Pothos cultivars, climbing enthusiastically toward whatever support you give her and producing increasingly dramatic leaves as she matures. Bold, bright, and significantly more interesting than anything else on the shelf—the Yellow Flame earns every bit of the attention she gets.
Care Card
🌿 Light — Bright indirect preferred. That golden-yellow variegation needs good light to stay vivid and flame-like; low light causes rapid reversion toward green and the whole luminous effect dims to something considerably more ordinary.
💧 Water — Let the top 1–2 inches dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. More forgiving than many variegated aroids but still dislikes consistently soggy soil; well-draining mix keeps roots healthy and the variegation vivid.
💨 Humidity — Moderate, 50–60% preferred. More tolerant of average humidity than collector-tier aroids; a pebble tray or humidifier supports the best growth but typical home conditions are manageable.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. No cold drafts—yellow variegated sections take cold damage faster than green tissue and the damage shows immediately on those flame-patterned leaves.
🪴 Soil — Well-draining aroid or all-purpose mix. Consistent moderate moisture without waterlogging; a climbing support like a moss pole encourages the larger, more dramatically variegated mature leaves.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 3–4 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter; yellow variegated tissue is more fertilizer-sensitive than standard green Pothos.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to cats, dogs, and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation and vomiting if ingested.
🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Getting there. More demanding than standard Pothos due to the bright variegation but significantly more forgiving than collector aroids—a great step up for intermediate growers who want something genuinely striking.
HOW OUR SHIPPING WORKS
For more details, please see our Shipping Policy to support your plants for a healthy journey in all seasons.
PLEASE NOTE: What you see is the vibe — not the exact plant. 🌿 Each plant has its own personality (some a little more dramatic than others). Leaf shape, size, and variegation will vary, but pot size is consistent.
