Philodendron mayoi 'Tahiti' is the climbing Philodendron that looks like it evolved specifically to make other plants feel underdressed—those deeply pinnate, palm-like fronds with their dramatic finger-like lobes have a wild, tropical silhouette that looks nothing like a standard Philodendron and everything like something that belongs in a rainforest canopy in French Polynesia, which is exactly where the name is pointing. She climbs with serious enthusiasm and the lobing becomes increasingly dramatic as she matures, each new frond more elaborately divided than the last in a progressive payoff that makes vertical growing space feel like the best investment in the hobby. 🌿 Light — Bright indirect preferred. Those dramatic pinnate lobes develop their fullest definition with good light; low light produces smaller, less divided fronds that don't honor the mayoi's extraordinary potential.
💧 Water — Let the top 1–2 inches dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Standard Philodendron drought tolerance applies; well-draining aroid mix keeps roots healthy and those lobed fronds unfurling on a satisfying schedule.
💨 Humidity — 55–70% preferred. More tolerant of average humidity than collector aroids; a humidifier supports the best frond size and most dramatic lobing but typical home conditions are genuinely manageable.
🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. Stable tropical warmth keeps those pinnate fronds unfurling consistently; cold drafts slow the climbing growth and reduce the progressive lobing that makes this plant worth having.
🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–3 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter; consistent feeding supports the vigorous climbing growth and accelerates the dramatic lobing payoff.
⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation and vomiting if ingested.

In cold weather, we strongly recommend adding a Heat Pack add-on for each shipment. Heat packs are priced separately and add additional weight to your box.
