Philodendron 'White Princess' is the genus doing royalty correctly—those glossy, dark green arrow-shaped leaves are splashed with crisp white variegation in irregular patches and streaks that look less like a genetic anomaly and more like someone made a very deliberate design decision and then kept it. She climbs elegantly, each new leaf a different white-to-green composition than the last, and she does it all with the kind of upright, composed habit that makes her look like she's been trained for this. Rare enough to feel special, stable enough to actually keep—the White Princess delivers on the title.

Care Card

🌿 Light — Bright indirect, consistently. White variegated sections have reduced chlorophyll and need good light to sustain healthy growth; low light causes reversion toward green and the crisp white patches that justify the collector price slowly disappear.

💧 Water — Let the top 1–2 inches dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain. Well-draining aroid mix essential—white variegated tissue is less forgiving of soggy roots than standard Philodendrons and root rot on a White Princess is an avoidable and expensive mistake.

💨 Humidity — 55–70% preferred. More tolerant of average humidity than collector aroids from more demanding genera; a humidifier supports the best variegation expression and keeps white sections from browning at the edges.

🌡️ Temperature — 65–85°F. Never below 60°F. No cold drafts—white sections take cold damage faster than green tissue and the damage shows immediately on those crisp pale leaves.

🪴 Soil — Well-draining aroid mix with a climbing support. The White Princess climbs with composure and produces increasingly dramatic variegated leaves with proper support—a moss pole is the right investment here.

🌱 Fertilizer — Half-strength balanced liquid every 2–3 weeks in spring and summer. Monthly in early fall. Nothing in winter; white variegated tissue is fertilizer-sensitive—consistent and gentle over aggressive and occasional.

⚠️ Toxicity — Toxic to pets and humans. Calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation and vomiting if ingested.

🐣 Beginner Friendly? — Not quite. Variegated tissue and collector pricing require some experience—but she's one of the more forgiving white-variegated aroids and intermediate growers with good light will find her an enormously satisfying addition to any collection.
